Olongapo seeks US Navy’s help in relief, rescue ops-A A +A

OLONGAPO City Mayor Rolen Paulino has asked the help of the US Navy personnel currently stationed in Subic to help in the relief and rescue operation in the city, which was hit by massive flood brought by heavy rain since Sunday evening.
“I have called US Ambassador Harry Thomas to help relief and rescue effort in our city,” Paulino said.
Paulino also said that he would be cutting his official trip abroad to come home and help his kababayan who was ravaged by the flood.
Paulino, together with Councilor Jong Cortez is now in Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA for a sister pack agreement.
As of 10 a.m., US Navy personnel have been gathering inside the ship waiting for the final instruction from the US Embassy.
No actual number has yet been submitted by the City Social Welfare Office, while olongapo city rescue team and all barangay rescue team have been deployed to help rescue residents in need.
Classes have been suspended in all levels in the city since 3 a.m. Monday.
