UAAP: La Salle returns to finals after 5 years-A A +A
Wednesday, September 25, 2013
LA SALLE bucked an 11-point deficit on Wednesday to defeat Far Eastern University (FEU), 71-68, and return to the UAAP men's basketball finals after five years.
Norbert Torres, Jeron Teng and LA Revilla posted 15 points each for the Green Archers, who won their ninth straight game since the start of the second round of eliminations.
"They played their hearts out in the last four, five minutes of the fourth quarter, and that's why we were able to pull this one out," said La Salle coach Juno Sauler at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
With La Salle up by four, 70-66, Terrence Romeo converted in the next play. Jason Perkins split from the charity stripe but Romeo's attempt to tie the game fizzled out at the buzzer.
Carl Cruz registered 16 points while Romeo added 14.
FEU and La Salle actually finished the eliminations with 10-4 slate but the Archers secured the twice-to-beat edge following a knockout match last week.
National University and University of Santo Tomas will fight for the other finals slot on Saturday. (Virgil Lopez/Sunnex)
