Robbery with homicide raps filed vs Davantes’ killers-A A +A
Thursday, September 26, 2013
CRIMINAL charges were filed on Thursday against two of the six suspects in the killing of advertising executive Kristelle Davantes last September 7.
Facing robbery with homicide in a Las Piñas City court were Reggie "Jojo" Diel and Lloyd Benedict Enriquez. Both admitted to the crime, according to the resolution penned by Prosecution Attorney Omar Cris Casimiro.
"Respondent Jojo admitted that he acted as the alternate driver while their group abducted, robbed and eventually killed Kristelle. As for respondent Lloyd, it seems that he acted as the group’s lookout," the resolution stated.
Diel surrendered to the police with a help of a priest while Enriquez was nabbed in Muntinlupa City.
The DOJ said the two intended to rob Devantes when they saw her opening the gate of her house located at Moonwalk Village, Las Piñas City. They took the woman's cash, laptop and cellphone.
"In pursuing their wicked desire, they resorted to violent means by pointing a gun point blank at the neck of Kristelle thereby inflicting fear upon the latter. However, even if not considered as part of their scheme, they killed Kristelle and dumped her at the bridge located at Silang, Cavite, This is because Kristelle was able to identify the plate number of the car that the respondents used in the robbery," the resolution read.
The DOJ, however, finds no basis to charge the suspects with qualified carnapping because her car was only taken either to stop her from reporting the incident to authorities or move away from Las Piñas.
"In fact, this was confirmed when the respondents initially planned to abandon Kristelle’s car in a secluded village in Batangas. The intent of the respondents to sell the said car was merely an afterthought," it said.
Four other respondents will undergo further preliminary investigation, namely, Samuel Decimo, Kelvin Jorek Evangelista, Jomar Pepito, and Baser Minalang, who remains at large. (Virgil Lopez/Sunnex)
