TWO male persons were shot and wounded in two separate shooting incidents in Cebu City.
The first victim, identified as Reynald Ian Benlot, a resident of Barangay Basak San Nicolas, was mauled and shot around 12:05 a.m. Friday by five unidentified drunk men in Sitio Kalapukan, Barangay Sambag I.
The second incident happened 20 minutes after, this time in B. Rodriguez Extension, Barangay Sambag 2. Police identified the victim as Jason Lavistre, 21, single, a traysikad driver and resident of Sitio Lower Kawayan in the same village.
Investigation revealed that Benlot was walking on his way home when he saw a bunch of drunken men in Sitio Kalapukan. One of the men accosted Benlot and asked him what was inside his bag.
Benlot ignored the person and continued walking, but the suspects mauled and shot him once.
The victim sustained a gunshot wound from an undetermined caliber on the right portion of his leg. He managed to run toward V. Rama Street to seek help. He was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center by responding members of the Basak Pardo Emergency Rescue.
The other victim, on the other hand, was shot repeatedly around 12:25 a.m. Friday while he was talking to his girlfriend at the footbridge of B. Rodriguez Extension.
The suspects, one of them identified as a certain “Ondo,” approached Lavistre and asked the victim: “Unsay problema nimu dong? (What’s your problem?)”
Lavistre was then shot on his left arm and left leg.
The victim, together with his girlfriend, scampered away and managed to seek help from his sister, who rushed him to the Cebu City Medical Center for treatment.
The Cebu City Police Office has been conducting investigation on both incidents. (Akimie R. Losorata, PIT intern/Sunnex)
