A 45-YEAR-OLD man was shot to death after “swindling” a woman Thursday evening at Sitio Lower Bacayan, Barangay Bacayan, Cebu City.
The victim was identified as Vicente Rivera, married and a stay-in company driver of New Culion Builders, while the suspect was identified as Jun Mark Ortiz, 22, single, a landscaper. Both were residents of Sitio Lower Bacayan.
Police investigation revealed that Rivera was talking to acquaintances Jason Arenas and Richie Fernan, when Ortiz arrived armed with an unidentified caliber.
“Gi-ilad nimu akong mama!” said Ortiz, who then shot Rivera in front of Arenas and Fernan.
Mario Dait, co-worker of Rivera, brought the victim, who sustained a gunshot wound on his body, to the Cebu North General Hospital for immediate medication but he was pronounced dead by his attending physician.
Police said the suspect fled after the incident. (Akimie R. Losorata, PIT intern/Sunnex)
