MANILA -- Several protesters on Friday night disrupted the plenary deliberations on the 2014 budget of the Office of the President.
Einstein Recedes, spokesperson of Youth Act Now, said Congress should abolish the P25.2-million priority development assistance funds (PDAF) and allocate these to public schools and hospitals.
The House of Representatives is set to approve on second reading the P2.26 trillion national budget for 2014 without the usual item for PDAF.
The House committee on appropriations earlier agreed to scrap the PDAF and distribute the amount to line agencies. Members of Congress, however, can still propose projects to the Department of Public Works and Highways, which will implement infrastructure projects. (Kathrina Alvarez/Sunnex)
