MANILA -- The Department of Tourism (DOT) will focus on raising domestic tourist arrivals, since a slowdown is expected in the international tourism market.
“Though a lot of tourism sites in the country have been affected by recent calamities, there are other destinations that can be enjoyed,” said Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) Chief Operations Officer Domingo Ramon Enerio III in a press briefing Friday.

ZAMBOANGA CITY – The government forces have killed four New People’s Army (NPA) rebels in two separate clashes in the hinterlands of Compostela Valley province, a military official said Saturday.
Eastern Mindanao Command (Eastmincom) chief Lieutenant General Ricardo Rainier Cruz III said three rebels, including two women, were killed on Wednesday at Sitio Lin-ao in Barangay Teresa, Maco town.

WARSAW, Poland -- A Polish court has fined a 23-year-old woman who admitted posting an invitation to an outdoor spring party on Facebook, which drew more than 20,000 people. Some of them were rowdy and got into fights.
The court in the southern city of Krakow said Friday the woman failed to seek permission or ensure security during the party in April on the city outskirts. One man was injured after falling from a cliff. The woman — identified only as Anna K., in line with Poland's privacy regulations — was convicted of organizing an unauthorized gathering.

LOS ANGELES -- Detectives arrested a teenager accused of stealing some wreckage from the Porsche that "Fast & Furious" star Paul Walker was in when he died in a crash in California, and a second suspect was planning to turn himself in, authorities said.
The theft occurred as the 2005 Porsche Carrera GT was being towed from the accident scene Saturday night, Los Angeles County sheriff's officials said.

TWO personnel of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and six soldiers, including the pilots, were injured when the Huey helicopter carrying them crashed in Leyte province on Friday.
Captain Amado Gutierrez, spokesman of the Army's 8th Infantry Division, said the Air Force aircraft crashed around 3:45 p.m. at Bagacay West village in La Paz town due to engine problem.
