House reps file reso to commend Young on pageant-A A +A

MANILA -- The House of Representatives joined in recognizing the victory of actress Megan Young for bagging the historic Miss World title in Bali, Indonesia over the weekend.
In a resolution, the House independent bloc led by Leyte Representative Ferdinand Martin Romualdez sought to honor Young for being the first Filipina crowned in the 63-year pageant.
“Now therefore, be it resolved as it is hereby resolved that the House of Representatives give commendation and honor to the newly crowned and the country’s first-ever Miss World’ titlist after sixty-three years, to Miss Megan Lynne Young,” the resolution read.
The resolution was also authored by Navotas Rep. Toby Tiangco, spokesperson and secretary general of the United Nationalist Alliance; former President-turned Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, and Representatives Diosdado “Dato” Arroyo (Camarines Sur), Lito Atienza (Buhay party-list), Jonathan Dela Cruz (Abakada party-list), Victor Ortega (La Union), Philip Pichay (Surigao del Sur), Lani Mercado-Revilla (Cavite), and Aleta Suarez (Quezon).
