Mining firm worker shot dead in Toledo-A A +A

AN EMPLOYEE of a mining firm in Toledo City, Cebu died from multiple gunshot wounds Tuesday evening, police reported.
The victim was identified as Julito Moneva, married, an employee of Carmen Copper Corporation and a resident of Barangay Awihao, Toledo City.
The suspects, who were seen onboard a black motorcycle, remained unidentified.
Roderick Rubin, a witness, said that while he was buying something from a store at the roadside of Barangay Ibo Cemetery, he heard bursts of gunfire. He then saw two male persons fleeing from the crime scene onboard a motorcycle.
Rubin found Moneva sitting at the roadside with several gunshot wounds.
The witness then called the police, who brought the victim to Toledo City Hospital. Moneva, however, was proclaimed dead upon arrival.
The Toledo City police recovered one .45 caliber pistol, one magazine, six live ammos, seven empty shells, and one deformed slug.
The police are conducting follow-up operation to identify and arrest the suspects. (Akimie R. Losorata, PIT intern/Sunnex)
