Typhoon ‘Ramil’ enters Philippine area of responsibility-A A +A

MANILA -- Typhoon "Ramil" (international codename: Danas) entered the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Sunday afternoon, the weather bureau said.
"Ramil" is the first tropical cyclone to enter PAR this month and the 18th for the year.
As of 4 p.m. Sunday, the eye of the typhoon was located at 1,170 kilometers (km) east of Itbayat, Batanes, according to the latest bulletin of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration's (Pagasa).
Ramil carries maximum sustained winds of 130 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 160 kph.
Pagasa said the typhoon is forecast to move northwest at 26 kph. However, it is not expected to affect any part of the country.
The weather bureau said Ramil is expected to be at 800 km northeast of Itbayat, Batanes or outside the country by Monday afternoon. (Sunnex)
