Lin, Pacers see electrifying pre-season match in Philippines-A A +A

AWARE of the Filipinos' special love for basketball, Houston Rockets star Jeremy Lin and the Indiana Pacers are expecting a raucous crowd that will cheer both teams on Thursday’s NBA pre-season game at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Speaking to reporters, Lin said Thursday's environment is going to be "electric" but at the end of the day, "we just want to be better a better team."
"I'm there to play," said the 25-year-old Lin, who thanked people who looked up to his Cinderella-like story in the world's premier basketball league.
Like the Rockets, the Pacers will also enter the game trying to bounce back from a loss to Chicago Bulls last Saturday, 82-76.
"We want to win, obviously, but we also want to get different combinations, and also get the guys worked that need to get worked, so we won't play a normal regular season rotation," said Pacers coach Frank Vogel.
The Rockets earlier recruited superstar center Dwight Howard in the hope of improving the team's playoff finish last season.
"We just want to add in to it, we want it to be as smooth a transition as possible, getting him up to speed with the way we like to run and the way we like to play, and at the same time compromise with his game and utilize his strengths," said Lin.
Both squads spared 30 minutes each to members of the media waiting for updates regarding their campaigns in the upcoming NBA season. Another media session was scheduled on Wednesday, also during practices. (Virgil Lopez/Sunnex)
