TALISAY CITY -- City Mayor Johnny "JVR" Delos Reyes is eyeing for relocation sites for families whose houses were hit by meter-high waves on Sunday night, an official said Tuesday.
Vincie Monterde, Talisay City public information officer, said that Delos Reyes is looking for a possible relocation site for those who are living near the coastal areas.
On Sunday night, about 297 families living in Barangays Poblacion, Dumlog, and Cansojong were forced to leave their homes after huge waves hit their houses.
Monterde said the city has a relocation site at sitio Aroma, but he said: "I do not know if masulod pa ba na sila ang uban. (I don't know if they can still fit in there.)"
He said the mayor's instruction was to look for an area as relocation site.
Delos Reyes also talked to personnel of the Department of Social Welfare and Development Office regarding assistance for the affected families.
He said the city might acquire housing materials to be given to the affected families. (Sunnex)
