Wednesday, October 9, 2013
THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) said the printing of the more than 54 million ballots that will be used in the October 28 barangay polls has been completed.
In a press briefing, Comelec Commissioner Luie Guia said that the 54,051,626 official ballots have already been printed.
"We've already completed the printing. It's 100 percent already. We are just verifying about 10 percent of the total number of ballots to see if the serial numbers are okay," he added.
Originally, the poll body's target completion for the printing of the official ballots was on or before October 18.
Guia noted that 90 percent of the more than 54 million ballots are now in the packing and shipping committee.
"All the other election forms as far as printing is concerned is already finished… some of the election supplies have already been deployed to our PhilPost warehouse," he said.
An average of 1.2 million to 2 million ballots are printed daily at the National Printing Office (NPO) using two printers.
The printing of the official ballots started last September 4. (FP/Sunnex)
