SC to decide on PDAF constitutionality by November-A A +A
Thursday, October 10, 2013
THE Supreme Court on Tuesday gave petitioners and the government seven days to wrap up their arguments in writing regarding the constitutionality of the controversial priority development assistance fund (PDAF).
“This Court will issue a decision by November to give Congress time to digest or decision while crafting the 2014 budget,” said Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio at the conclusion of the second day of the oral argument.
The third round of the debate is on October 17.
Solicitor General Francis Jardeleza earlier asked the Court to partially lift its temporary restraining order (TRO) on PDAF to allow the release of funds for scholarships and medical assistance. (Virgil Lopez/Sunnex)
