MANILA -- A new cyclone is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Monday, state weather forecasters said, adding that however, it is not forecast to affect any part of the country.
The cyclone, whose international name is Typhoon Francisco, might enter PAR on Monday but will only stay within the area briefly as it heads toward mainland Asia. If it enters PAR, it will be named Urduja, and it will be the 21st cyclone to enter PAR in 2013.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Sunday that the Northeast Monsoon (Hanging Amihan) affects the northern and eastern parts of Luzon.
Pagasa said, "The regions of Ilocos, Cordillera, Cagayan Valley, Bicol and the provinces of Aurora and Quezon will experience cloudy skies with scattered light rain."
"Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rain," it added.
Pagasa also said that the skies over the rest of the Philippines will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain or thunderstorms, mostly in the afternoon or evening. (SFP/Sunnex)
