A COURT hearing Janet Napoles' serious illegal detention case has allowed her attendance to the Senate hearing on the alleged pork barrel scam on November 7.
Lawyer Diosfa Valencia, clerk of the Makati Regional Trial Court branch 150, said Monday Judge Elmo Alameda honored the subpoena issued by Senate President Franklin Drilon around 4 p.m., or almost two hours after receiving the document.
Valencia said Alameda instructed the Philippine National Police (PNP), who has custody of Napoles, to provide her ample security, especially during the trip from the Fort Sto. Domingo in Laguna to the Senate in Pasay City and back.
The businesswoman is accused of creating fake non-government organizations (NGOs) to siphon the priority development assistance funds of some lawmakers.
She will likely face in the Senate the whistleblowers led by her personal assistant Benhur Luy, who was allegedly kept against his will for three months upon Napoles' orders. (Virgil Lopez/Sunnex)
