POPE Francis on Sunday expressed his closeness to the Filipino people amid last week's magnitude-7.2 quake in Central Visayas.
The Pope disclosed this in his message after the Angelus Sunday evening, Manila time.
He also sought prayers for the Philippines, which had been recently struck by various calamities.
"I want to express my closeness to the people of the Philippines who have been struck by a strong earthquake, and I invite you to pray for that dear Nation, which in recent days has suffered different calamities," he said.
Last Tuesday's quake devastated several areas in Central Visayas.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council's Sunday evening figures indicated the quake left at least 185 dead. (JK/Sunnex)
