Vietnamese poachers caught off Palawan-A A +A

(UPDATED) Philippine authorities have arrested 13 Vietnamese fishermen off Balabac town in Palawan for illegal entry and for poaching, maritime authorities said Monday.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) Maritime Group was conducting sea-borne patrol operations in the waters off Balabac when they noticed an unidentified fishing vessel conducting poaching operations in the area.
The team immediately went near the boat and later found out that it was loaded with several frozen turtles and other maritime species.
The Vietnamese fishermen were subjected to a medical examination and remained in the custody of the PNP.
The police are now conducting an inventory of seized maritime species. (JK/John Carlo Cahinhin/Sunnex)
