Pagasa: Typhoon Urduja slows slightly-A A +A

MANILA -- Typhoon Urduja (Francisco) slightly slowed Wednesday as it headed toward Japan, state weather agency said.
In its 5 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Urduja was estimated at 1,000 km east-northeast of Itbayat, Batanes as of 4 a.m.
Strong to gale-force winds from the Northeast Monsoon enhanced by Typhoon Urduja may affect the seaboards of Northern Luzon and the eastern seaboards of Central and Southern Luzon, it said.
Pagasa said Urduja had maximum sustained winds of 160 kph and gustiness of up to 195 kph and is forecast to move west-northwest at 11 kph.
Meanwhile, Pagasa said Ilocos, Cordillera and Cagayan Valley regions may expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with isolated light rain.
It also said Metro Manila and the rest of the country may have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. (JK/Sunnex)
