Aquino's Communication Group implements new briefing set up-A A +A
Thursday, October 24, 2013
MANILA -- In a move to further improve the communication effort of the Aquino administration, Presidential Communications Operations Group Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. will also conduct a regular press briefing.
For the second time this week, Coloma faced Thursday the members of the Malacanang Press Corps (MPC) instead of Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda or Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte.
"Iisang pangkat lang po ang Communications team ng ating Pangulo, at bahagi ako doon sa pangkat na iyon. Sa kasalukuyan pong panahon ay nagkaisa po kami na ako ay lalahok na doon sa regular na pakikipagkita sa inyo para magkaroon tayo ng unawaan hinggil sa mga mahahalagang isyu," said Coloma, who is scheduled to hold the media briefing every Tuesday and Thursday and he will be interviewed via dzRB Radyo ng Bayan every Sunday.
Lacierda is tasked to hold briefings on Mondays and Wednesday, while Valte on Fridays and she will be interviewed over Radyo ng Bayan every Saturday.
Valte used to hold radio briefing during weekend.
Coloma said that the new set up will allow President Benigno Aquino III's Communication Group to explain clearly all the information to the public through the media.
Lacierda, in a text message to reporters, said that it was Coloma who asked that he could do "alternate briefings" with him and Valte.
"Since we've been doing this for more than three years, we were more than happy to accommodate him as this frees our schedule to do our other work like our daily meetings with other government officials and stakeholders," he said.
"In fact, I decided to give him Tuesday, Thursday and the Sunday radio briefing," he added.
Asked if his decision to face the media regularly was a way of "rescuing" the other members of the Communications Group, Coloma said, "wala naman po sigurong kailangang i-rescue dahil wala namang kalamidad na naganap." (SDR/Sunnex)
