Brillantes: Liquor ban starts Sunday-A A +A

MANILA -- Starting 12:01 a.m. Sunday, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) will enforce a liquor ban in time for the Barangay Elections on Monday.
Comelec Chairperson Sixto Brillantes Jr. issued the reminder on his Twitter account on Friday morning.
"Please note that the ELECTION LIQUOR BAN starts 12:01 a.m. of October 27 and will stay in place until October 28, 2013," he said.
Meanwhile, Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez also tweeted about the last day of campaign for the barangay elections.

Brillantes said the liquor ban applies to the "selling, offering, buying, serving and taking of intoxicating liquor."
Exempted are Department of Tourism-certified establishments "catering to tourists and foreign nationals." (JK/Sunnex)
