Over 500 arrested for gun ban violations-A A +A

MORE than 500 individuals have been arrested for violating the Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban in connection with the October 28 barangay elections, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Friday.
As of 7:04 a.m. Friday, Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes said the PNP has recorded 518 arrests in different parts of the country.
The figures include 483 civilians, five policemen, four soldiers, two government paramilitary unit members, 19 security guards, and four government officials.
Police said 417 firearms and 3,249 ammunition have been confiscated, along with 65 explosives and 174 bladed weapons.
The nationwide gun ban ends on November 12 except in Bohol and Zamboanga since Election Day in those said areas where moved to November 25. (Sunnex)
