Damage caused by Typhoon 'Vinta' reaches P207M-A A +A

AT LEAST P207 million in damage was caused by Typhoon Vinta (international codename: Krosa) when it barreled through Northern Luzon, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Monday.
The NDRRMC also said some P1.445 million had been extended to affected families in Cagayan Valley and Cordillera.
In its 6 a.m. update, the NDRRMC said the P207,064,258.46 in damage included P1.345 million in infrastructure and P205,719,258.46 in agriculture, in Ilocos and Cagayan Valley.
The NDRRMC also said that as of Sunday afternoon, power was back in 85 percent of households in Ilocos Norte.
However, power restoration work is still ongoing in Apayao and Cagayan. Cagayan is still experiencing intermittent mobile phone signals.
Meanwhile, the death toll remained at three, with one injured and two still missing.
Some 44,555 families or 220,443 people were affected in 537 villages in 39 towns and one city in five provinces of Ilocos, Cagayan Valley and Cordillera. (JK/Sunnex)
