Wednesday, December 4, 2013
A 39-YEAR-OLD German, who has been detained for human trafficking, held hostage Wednesday morning the warden of the Talisay City Jail, police reported.
The suspect, Thomas Michael Ruhland, used an improvised weapon made out of a nail file, a tin can cover, nail cutter, and a can opener to threaten jail warden Gil Inopia inside his office.
Senior Police Officer 1 Mikie Espina of the Talisay City Police Station said that Ruhland demanded for a loaded gun with two magazines, three handcuffs with keys, and a getaway car from Inopia.
The jail warden, however, was able to disarm Ruhland by striking his hand with the improvised weapon.
Inopia then called two of his subordinates to help him subdue the foreigner.
Ruhland was turned over to the police and was jailed after he was accused of allegedly molesting two 14-year-old girls inside a motel in Talisay City back in 2011. (JKV/Sun.Star Cebu)
