Biazon supports Sevilla's appointment-A A +A
Thursday, December 5, 2013
OUTGOING Bureau of Customs (BOC) Commissioner Ruffy Biazon has supported the appointment of Finance Undersecretary John "Sunny" Sevilla as Officer-in-Charge of the bureau.
"No one can question the credentials that Sunny Sevilla has in taking on his assignment as OIC of the BOC. Importantly, he has untarnished record and unquestionable integrity," he said in an interview.
Biazon said that the newly appointed official of the bureau has an advantage for having worked with Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima.
"As an undersecretary of finance, his advantage is that he already established working relationship with the department and Sec Purisima," he said.
Biazon added that he is also certain that Sevilla has the trust and confidence of President Benigno Aquino III why he was chosen to be the OIC of the bureau.
"Having been selected by the President, I'm sure he has the trust and confidence of PNoy (Aquino)," he said.
The BOC chief said that he has met with the former DOF official.
"We discussed the projects and programs that are in the middle of implementation and need to be followed through," Biazon added.
On Wednesday, Malacañang announced the appointment of Sevilla, who was the DOF's Undersecretary for the Corporate Affairs Group and Privatization since 2010.
Biazon on Monday filed his irrevocable resignation days after he was named respondent in a malversation complaint in connection with the pork barrel scam, allegedly masterminded by Janet Lim-Napoles. (FP/Sunnex)
