PRESIDENT Benigno Aquino III has ordered an investigation into the parole given to convicted former Batangas Governor Antonio Leviste, a Palace official said Sunday.

The Chief Executive was apparently not informed that Leviste was among the 35 prisoners who were granted parole as he expressed his dissatisfaction.

"I am not happy with the decision and I am having the whole matter investigated," Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. quoting the President in an interview over dzRB Radyo ng Bayan.

He said that Aquino only learned that Leviste was granted a parole from the news.

Leviste was released on Friday from the New Bilibid Prisons. He was convicted by a Makati court for killing his aide in 2007. (SDR/Sunnex)
