Bomb explodes in front of mayor’s residence-A A +A

ZAMBOANGA CITY – A bomb explosion rocked Basilan province's capital, Isabela City, the police reported Saturday.
Isabela City Police Director Albert Larubis said the incident occurred around 2 a.m. Saturday in front of the residence of Isabela City Mayor Cherrylin Santos-Akbar in Sunrise village.
The explosion happened few minutes after an improvised bomb was found in a videoke house near Akbar's residence.
Police reported no casualty in both incidents, the police said.
Larubis said the explosion left a two feet crater outside the perimeter fence of Akbar’s residence, which is located along the highway.
He said the Explosive Ordnance Demolition (EOD) personnel have yet to determine the type of explosive that was used.
He said the improvised bomb that was recovered is a cellphone-triggered explosive with 81-mm mortar ammunition as the main charge.
He said the bomb, which was placed under one of the tables, was discovered by the cook of the videoke house.
The EOD has conducted disruption procedure to defuse the recovered improvised bomb.(Sunnex)
