MANILA -- Filipino ordinary passport holders can now enter Myanmar without a visa, and stay in the country for up to 14 days starting January 4, 2014.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), on its website, said the Philippine visa-free Myanmar agreement was signed during Myanmar President U Thein Sein's state visit in the Philippines last December 5.

Myanmar nationals may also enter Philippines without a visa and can stay for up to 30 days.

DFA said the latest accord is expected to boost tourism, trade and investment between both countries.

Earlier this month, Sein and Philippine President Benigno Aquino III inked pacts on agriculture, foreign affairs, energy, trade, and investments. (Sunnex)
