MANILA -- State weather forecasters on Tuesday said parts of Luzon and Visayas will likely have light to moderate rain and thunderstorms due to the Northeast Monsoon (Hanging Amihan).
On the last day of the year 2013, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that while Amihan directly affects Northern Luzon, this monjsoon may still bring light rain to other parts of the country.
Pagasa said, "Mimaropa, Bicol region and Visayas will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rain showers and thunderstorms."
"Metro Manila and the regions of Cagayan Valley, Ilocos, Cordillera and Central Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light rain," it added.
"The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms," Pagasa also said.
The state weather agency also said that moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast and east will prevail over Luzon and Eastern Visayas. The coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough while elsewhere in the country, winds will be light to moderate coming from the east to northeast with slight to moderate seas.
