"WE CAN forgive, but we should not forget."

This was the statement of Senator JV Ejercito when asked if there is truth to rumors that his father, former President Joseph Ejercito Estrada and former Presidents Fidel Ramos and Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, are planning to form an alliance for the 2016 national elections.

Both Estrada and Ramos made separate visits to Arroyo, now Pampanga representative, at her hospital suite at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC). Arroyo is under hospital arrest for plunder.

"Personally, I don't think that is possible. We can forgive, but we should not forget. Especially FVR (Ramos), it will be impossible to be with him," Ejercito told Sun.Star in a text message Tuesday.

Estrada, the incumbent mayor of Manila, was vice president during the Ramos administration from 1992 to 1998.

During the Edsa II, Ramos was one of the influential leaders who called for the resignation of then President Estrada over allegations that the former leader benefited from the illegal numbers game, jueteng.

Navotas City Representative Tobias Tiangco, spokesperson of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA), added that the so-called Erap-FVR-GMA political alliance was made up no less than by Malacañang.

"No truth. Gawa-gawa lang 'yan ng Malacañang, hindi kasi nila ma-explain PNoy's (President Benigno Aquino III) vindictiveness. Erap's (Estrada) visit was purely out of compassion, a trait this government does not have," Tiangco said.

Arroyo's spokesperson and legal counsel, lawyer Raul Lambino, meanwhile denied that the three former presidents are planning an alliance.

"None. Those are mere speculations and rumors without basis whatsoever," he said in a text message. (Sunnex)
