MANILA (Updated) -- Tropical Depression Agaton has slowed down while maintaining its strength, and Public Storm Warning Signal number 1 remained in several provinces in Mindanao, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Sunday.

Pagasa said Agaton maintained its maximum winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph). The weather disturbance was located 215 kilometers (km) southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur or at 220 kilometers east of Davao City as of Sunday afternoon.

Public Storm Warning Signal number 1 was hoisted over the provinces of Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur and Compostella Valley. These areas will continue to experience winds between 30 to 60 kph within the next 36 hours.

According to Pagasa, rain with gusty winds with moderate to rough seas will be experienced in Davao region and in the provinces of Agusan del Sur and Surigao del Sur. Northern Mindanao and the rest of Caraga will have cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms that may trigger flashfloods and landslides.

However, the rest of Mindanao will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rain showers and thunderstorms while Visayas and the regions of Cagayan Valley, Bicol and the provinces of Aurora and Quezon will be cloudy with light rain, Pagasa added.

The Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy to cloudy with light rain.

"Winds blowing from the northeast from moderate to strong will prevail over Luzon and Visayas while Mindanao wind from moderate to strong will be coming from the northeast to northwest and the coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be moderate to rough," Pagasa said.
