MANILA -- Deniece Cornejo filed a rape case on Wednesday against "It's Showtime" host Vhong Navarro, a day after the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) filed several cases against the model's camp.

Accompanied by her lawyer, Cornejo submitted her affidavit before the Taguig City Prosecutor's Office Wednesday afternoon. Cornejo's lawyer Howard Calleja said in a text message they will try to provide a soft copy of the complaint.

She previously claimed in several interviews that Navarro was mauled by her friends, led by businessman Cedric Lee, after the TV host attempted to rape her on the evening of January 22.

On Tuesday, the NBI charged the camp of Cornejo and Lee with serious illegal detention, serious physical injuries, grave threats, grave coercion, unlawful arrest and threatening to publish and offer to prevent such publication for compensation.

Lee, one of the six people who allegedly beat Navarro inside Cornejo's Taguig condo unit, said his friend is the real victim.

Meanwhile, in a media briefing, the NBI showed the footage taken by the condominium's closed-circuit television cameras last January 22.

In television interviews, Lee said that he and friends beat up Navarro after noting that the actor attempted to rape Cornejo.

But the NBI said the CCTV footage showed that it was not possible for Lee to actually see Navarro harassing the model since the video showed that Cornejo alighted from the elevator only minutes after the TV host-actor went up while Lee met Cornejo at the ground floor.

Navarro earlier said two men mauled him inside the room moments after Cornejo left. The NBI gave weight to this statement, noting that the two men were only caught on tape when they escorted a hand-tied Navarro, along with Cornejo and Lee, out of the building.

The NBI investigators said Navarro's story matched the CCTV footage.

"It's not possible that there was an attempt to rape. The footage is quite obvious that there was no instance that Deniece was inside her room (when the incident occurred),” said NBI Assistant Regional Director Vicente De Guzman.

But Calleja said the videos will not give the whole picture of the story.

"CCTV can only show you part of the story. What we have here are eye witnesses that can tell the whole story. We are not even sure if the CCTV is clear, has been tampered, or whatever has happened with that," he said.

On Sunday, Navarro detailed his ordeal on national television and said that he was beaten by Lee's group and they tried to extort money from him.
