Possible cyclone to enter PAR Thursday-A A +A

A CYCLONE is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Thursday or Friday morning, a state weather forecaster said.
Aldczar Aurelo, weather forecaster of the Philippine Astronomical, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), said the Low Pressure Area (LPA) spotted outside the PAR on Wednesday developed into a tropical depression, a weather disturbance with wind speed of up to 63 kilometers per hour (kph), around 8 a.m. Thursday.
Aurelo said that as of Thursday morning, the tropical depression was estimated at 1,140 kilometers (km) east of Mindanao. It is expected to produce moderate to heavy rain shower.
"Pagtama niyan sa lupa, expected naming it will be between the east of Visayas and Caraga," he said.
However, Aurelo said they are still looking at the possibility of the tropical depression turning into an LPA again just like Tropical Depression Agaton, which hit Mindanao last week.
"May possibility pa din siya na bumalik sa pagiging LPA pero pag tumama ito sa lupa as tropical storm, hindi na ito magiging LPA ulit," Aurelo said.
Meanwhile, Pagasa said that northeast monsoon is affecting Luzon and it can cause isolated light rain.
"Luzon and Visayas will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rain, while Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms," Pagsa said.
According to Pagasa, moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Luzon and Visayas and winds coming from the northeast to north over Mindanao.
Pagasa also warned fishing boats and other small sea crafts not to venture out into the sea, while larger sea vessels were alerted against big waves as the coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be moderate to rough. (Sunnex)
