MANILA -- The Supreme Court (SC) has stopped the implementation of a Quezon City ordinance that requires households to pay a garbage fee each year.

A resolution on the temporary restraining order (TRO) issued by the SC Third Division however has yet to be released, said Court spokesperson Theodore Te on Thursday.

Some P54 million is expected to be generated from the fee by the end of the year, which ranges from P100 to P600 depending on the size of the lot.

The collection coincides with the payment of the real property taxes each year. (Sunnex)
