Actor Roy Alvarez dies-A A +A

VETERAN actor Roy Alvarez (real name: Leandro Delantar Alvarez) died after a cardiac arrest on Tuesday, February 11. He was 63.
The actor’s celebrity friends also confirmed his passing on Twitter, with actress Gina Alajar posting this:
With sadness and grief, my heartfelt sympathies to the family of Mr Roy Alvarez, a good actor, a friend and a great person. I will miss you.

Another actress, Sunshine Dizon, expressed her condolences to Alvarez, who was known as Don Manolo Quintana in the television series Villa Quintana of GMA Network. Dizon and Alvarez both starred in the said series.

Alvarez, aside from being an actor, was also a director and scriptwriter. The Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP) said he wrote scripts and directed shows both in television and theater.
He was among the cast of GMA’s primetime hit My Husband’s Lover, where he took the role of Keempee de Leon’s father.
Alvarez also played roles in other GMA television series such as Amaya, Her Wonder Walis, and Pahiram ng Sandali, among others.
He was survived by his wife, Nieves, and daughter Miren. (Sunnex)
