Church-bound

A Mitsubishi Strada pickup, driven by 24-year-old Junette July Yamyamin, hit Garciano, Cebu CFI Cooperative legal department chief, who was about to cross Escario St. to go to the Capitol Parish Church.

Yamyamin said she came from Asiatown I.T. Park and did not notice Garciano.

The front of the pickup truck hit Garciano’s head. Strands of hair, believed to be Garciano’s, were found near the left headlamp of the pickup truck.

SPO4 Nelson Jaime of the Cebu City Police Traffic Division said that Yamyamin did not even know she hit someone.

A man on a motorcycle, Mark Tungol, chased Yamyamin and told her she had run someone over.

Yamyamin reportedly went back to Escario St. but when she noticed the crowd around Garciano’s body, she proceeded to the Fuente Police Station instead and surrendered to authorities.

A case of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide would be filed against Yamyamin, who is detained at the Fuente Police Station.

Lawyer Lito Astillero of Cebu CFI Cooperative said Garciano’s death came as a shock. “(Her death) is a great loss to us,” he said.
