THE Senate is expected to approve on third and final reading the proposed freedom of information (FOI) bill next week, March 10.

Senate President Franklin Drilon scheduled the FOI bill for final reading after the measure sponsored by Senator Grace Poe was approved on second reading Monday.

The version of the House of Representatives, however, is yet to be voted upon in the committee level.

"What they (House leaders) told us is that once we are finished, they will start deliberating," Drilon said in an interview.

The FOI bill needs to pass both chambers before it is tackled in a bicameral conference committee (bicam). The bicam report will then be ratified before it is sent to President Benigno Aquino III for his signature. (Sunnex)
