MANILA -- Actor-television host Vhong Navarro filed perjury charges against five people, including model Deniece Cornejo and businessman Cedric Lee, for twisting the truth behind the mauling incident at a condominium unit in Taguig City last January 22.
Apart from Lee and Cornejo, Navarro's lawyer Alma Mallonga said Thursday that Lee's sister, Bernice, JP Calma and Simeon Raz Jr. were also charged with perjury before the Manila Prosecutor's Office regarding the alleged lies in their counter-affidavits to the serious illegal detention and serious physical injury complaints filed by the actor before the Department of Justice (DOJ).
In Lee's case, Mallonga said he was lying when he claimed that Navarro was beat up for allegedly raping Cornejo despite footage from the condo's closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras suggesting it did not happen.
Cornejo, on the other hand, changed her story after saying Navarro also raped her on the evening of January 17, which was contrary to her statement to the National Bureau of Investigation.
The "It's Showtime" host had said Cornejo performed oral sex on him on that night.
Aside from the perjury case, Navarro also filed earlier charges of serious illegal detention, serious physical injuries, grave threat, grave coercion, illegal arrest and blackmail against Cornejo and Lee’s group. (Virgil Lopez/Sunnex)
