Whistleblower Luy denies conflict with former lawyer-A A +A

PORK scam main whistleblower Benhur Luy denied having a conflict with his former chief legal counsel, Levito Baligod, during the Senate Blue Ribbon committee hearing on Thursday.
"Bago ko ginawa yung desisyon, I've been praying a lot and asking wisdom kasi at the end of the day, if I make this decision, ako yung magfface ng consequence din naman," Luy told the committee.
"(He's) very busy. Totoo naman po and this could be confirmed. Hindi po kami nag-aaway ni Attorney Baligod. Yun lang po ang reason, yung time. Tsaka yung mga advocacies niya. Di ko po alam kung ano 'yun," Luy added.
Earlier this week, Justice Secretary Leila de Lima said Luy has dropped Baligod as his lawyer in relation to the Priority Development Assistance Funds (PDAF) scam.
In a newspaper report, Baligod said he believed that he was removed because "someone wants to control" his client. De Lima had denied this.
Luy said that the PDAF scam wherein he plays the role of whistleblower is not about him or Baligod.
"This case is not me. It's not DOJ. It's the case of the taumbayan. Hindi ito case ni Benhur Luy, the counsel Baligod," Luy said.
For now, Baligod is still the lawyer of Merlina Suñas, another whistleblower. (Sunnex)
