THE Department of Justice (DOJ) is planning to end on March 14 the preliminary investigation on the complaints regarding the mauling of actor-television host Vhong Navarro at a Taguig City condominium last January 22.

This developed after the three-member panel of prosecutors said only Ferdinand Guerrero has yet to submit a counter-affidavit to the six charges filed by Navarro, among them serious physical injuries and serious illegal detention, which is a non-bailable offense.

Guerrero's co-respondents are model-stylist Deniece Cornejo, businessman Cedric Lee, Bernice Lee, Simeon Raz Jr., JP Calma, Jed Fernandez, who submitted his written defense on Friday, and a still unidentified individual.

Cornejo's counter-charge of rape was earlier submitted for resolution after the actor said his complaints will serve as his defense. Lee had insisted that Navarro was manhandled for raping his friend, Cornejo.

Navarro and his attackers never had a chance to face each other at the DOJ since the probe began on February 14, Valentine's Day.

The actor subscribed to his affidavits on February 6 or a week before the scheduled hearing while Cornejo, the Lee siblings and Raz showed up on February 21. Calma appeared on February 28.

The same panel is looking into the complaint filed by the Taguig police against the Megaforce Security Agency, which secures Forbeswood Heights, for obstruction of justice and violation of the Private Security Agency Law.

According to the police, the security agency must answer for its failure to report the incident, non-cooperation in the police investigation, hiding vital papers/evidence/records and non-disclosure or giving false or incomplete information. (Sunnex)
