Aquino now reviewing Cudia’s appeal-A A +A
Thursday, March 13, 2014
PRESIDENT Benigno Aquino III is personally reviewing the appeal of dismissed Philippine Military Academy (PMA) cadet Aldrin Jeff Cudia, a Palace official said Thursday.
Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said that all factors are being considered by the President in the review, including the "timeliness of the decision" given that the PMA graduation will be held on Sunday.
"Kanina lang po ay nandoon ako sa Tanggapan ng Pangulo at sinabi niyang pinag-aaralan niya 'yung appeal," he said in a regular press briefing.
Coloma stressed the importance of the PMA Honor Code, saying it is an essential building block on the character formation of future leaders and members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
"Its basic objective is to prepare and fortify the mindset and the value set of the prospective Armed Forces officer as these will eventually be put to a severe test in the battlefield and arenas of conflict, where the officer will be deployed upon commissioning. Truth and fairness are the primary guideposts in deciding this appeal," he said.
Cudia was dismissed from PMA for allegedly lying on his tardiness, a violation of the PMA Honor Code. With this, he could not join in the graduation rites on Sunday, March 16. (SDR/Sunnex)
