(Updated) -- The police are now hunting down the three inmates who bolted from the Zamboanga del Norte provincial jail Thursday morning, a radio report said.
Newly-installed Zamboanga Peninsula police spokesman Senior Inspector Joseph Ortega said the inmates have escaped around 10 a.m. Thursday from the provincial jail in the village of Don Jose Aguirre, Manukan, Zamboanga del Norte.
Ortega identified the escapees as Antonio Tuagi, Danford Duhaylungsod and Brian Nobresala. They are residents of Sergio Osmeña, Rizal, and Katipunan in Zamboanga del Norte.
Ortega said that Tuagi and Duhaylungsod are charged for murder while Nobresala is charged for rape. They are from the towns Sergio Osmeña, Rizal and Katipunan, respectively.
He said the escapees managed to escape by destroying the barbwire fence of the detention center.
He said the Manukan police command have coordinated with the police units of nearby municipalities to assist them in the manhunt operation. (Sunnex)
