Town official killed in Zamboanga Norte ambush

ZAMBOANGA CITY – A municipal official was killed in an ambush in a remote village of Zamboanga del Norte, the police reported Tuesday.

Killed on the spot in the ambush was Councilor Arthur Buaya of Godod, Zamboanga del Norte, the police said.

The Zamboanga del Norte Police Office (ZCPO) said that Buaya, 51, was ambush around 7 a.m. Monday at Purok II in the village of Raba, Godod municipality.

Investigation showed that the official was driving his motorcycle on the way to the town proper to attend the regular session of the Municipal Council when ambushed by around five gunmen, the police said.

The suspects fled towards the village of Banuangan, Godod, the police said.

Investigation continues to identify the identities of the suspects, the police said.
