THE alleged suspect in the murder of five people, including three minors, in Baguio City last Sunday surrendered to Manila Vice Mayor Isko Moreno late night Tuesday.

Suspect Philip Tolentino Avino, 31, reportedly asked his brother, Police Officer 3 Jeffrey Sta. Ana of Quezon City police, and aunt Chit Tolentino, a village chairperson in Manila, to help him surrender to the vice mayor.

Sta. Ana and Tolentino willingly assisted the suspect and turned him over to Moreno in Cubao, Quezon City.

Despite his surrender, Avino denied any involvement in the slay case, saying that he was just "framed up."

"It told him na if he thinks he is innocent then he should get a lawyer and prove himself sa court. Told him to pray always," Moreno said in a Twitter post.

On Wednesday morning, Avino was brought to Baguio City for investigation.

On April 6, Avino allegedly went to the rented apartment of the victims at the fourth floor of Chan Building at Barangay Kayang and brutally killed Jackelyn Kale Marquez Nociete, her brother Joey, two playmates of Joey, and house helper Jonalyn Lozano. The victims died before reaching the hospital.

The suspect was positively identified by a witness, an employee in the eatery owned by the apartment owner, who was also a former live-in partner of the suspect.

Earlier, Baguio Mayor Mauricio Domogan offered a P100,000 bounty to anyone who can give information leading to the arrest of the suspect. (Sunnex)
