Philippines condemns ISIS execution of Japanese

THE Philippine government on Tuesday joined other nations in condemning the execution of Japanese national Haruna Yukawa by terror group, Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS).

In a statement, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said the Philippines abhors such terror acts.

WELLINGTON, New Zealand — Pakistan team management says cricketer Haris Sohail was left "visibly shaken" after a ghostly encounter in a Christchurch hotel room.

Sohail fled what he believed was "a supernatural presence" which shook his bed at the Rydges Latimer hotel, taking refuge in the room of a team coach after the encounter earlier this week.

WikiLeaks slams Google over delay in revealing US warrants

BERLIN -- The secrets-spilling group WikiLeaks has criticized Google for failing to inform it about US search warrants issued against three of its staff.

The warrants issued in March 2012 required Google to hand over the phone numbers, IP addresses, credit card details, contents of all emails and other information for Sarah Harrison, Kristinn Hrafnsson and Joseph Faerrell.

Sandiganbayan junks Estrada’s motion to fix bail

THE anti-graft court junked on Monday the motion to fix bail of detained Senator Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada in connection with his plunder case over the alleged misuse of his Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF).

In a resolution released by the Sandiganbayan fifth division, the court said it is “premature to rule on the availability of such remedy" because the prosecution has yet to terminate the presentation of evidence against the senator.

Ex-Iloilo lawmaker, DOTC officials face charges for ‘ghost’ cellphones

Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales has approved the filing of information for malversation through falsification and violation of Republic Act 3019 or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices against former Iloilo representative Judy Syjuco and DOTC Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) chairman Domingo Reyes Jr.
