THE anti-graft court on Friday allowed Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to undergo a series of tests at St. Luke's Medical Center in Quezon City due to her complaints in urinating.
Arroyo's legal counsel Modesto Ticman said the Sandiganbayan First Division has allowed the former President to undergo medical check-up until afternoon of May 2.
"Initially ang request namin sana i-conduct ang testing para bukas, Sabado (Saturday). Pero napagalaman namin sa administration ng St. Luke's kung saan gagawin ang testing na sarado tuwing Sabado," Ticman said.
Ticman said Arroyo needs Urodynamic test to have her bladder and urethra checked since the Pampanga lawmaker is having difficulty in urinating since last month.
"Noong unang linggo ng Abril (April) nahirapan siyang umihi, may bleeding," he said.
Arroyo, who is being tried for plunder, is currently under hospital arrest at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) in Quezon City after she and several others were accused of conspiracy in defrauding the government of P365,997,915 through unlawful transfer of confidential/intelligence funds of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) from January 2008 to June 2010.
Other co-accused include former Commission on Audit chairman Reynaldo Villar, former PCSO officials Manuel Morato, Raundo Roquero, Jose Taruc, Rosario Uriarte, Benigno Aguas, Sergio Valencia and Fatima Valdes and former COA-Intelligence Fund Unit head Nilda Plaras.
Ticman noted that all expenses during the former President's check-up will be shouldered by her client.
Arroyo returned at the VMMC around 3:30 p.m. of same day. (Sunnex)
