TRC head Cunanan goes abroad-A A +A
Wednesday, May 14, 2014
TECHNOLOGY Resource Center (TRC) head on-leave Dennis Cunanan, a respondent turned provisional state witness in the pork barrel scam, left for an unknown destination in Asia on April 5, a radio report said Wednesday.
Cunanan was reportedly onboard Delta Airlines Flight 630. The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has no record yet of his return to the Philippines.
Cunanan earlier told the Senate Blue Ribbon committee that Senators Jinggoy Estrada and Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. personally followed up the implementation of dubious projects charged to their Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF).
Senator Juan Ponce Enrile, on the other hand, was represented in the transactions by his then chief-of-staff Jessica "Gigi" Reyes.
The three senators were charged with plunder before the Office of the Ombudsman for endorsing and receiving multi-million peso kickback from businesswoman Janet Napoles, the alleged mastermind of the PDAF scam.
Some senators, however, doubted Cunanan's credibility following the revelation of whistleblower Benhur Luy that the TRC official got P960,000 as commission for helping Napoles NGOs in their illegal activities, an accusation he categorically denied in an emotionally-charged Senate hearing last March.
His academic background and ownership of a posh house in a Quezon City village were also questioned. (Sunnex)
