Magnitude 6.3 rocks Negros Occidental-A A +A

CEBU CITY (Updated) -- A 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental Thursday evening, said the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
Phivolcs said the tremor occurred at 6:16 p.m. and it was located at 49 kilometers (km) southwest of Hinoba-an.
The quake, which was tectonic in origin, had a depth of 10 kilometers.
Intensity V was felt in Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental, while Intensity IV was felt in Iloilo City; Bago City; Pandan, Antique; Basay, Negros Occidental; Sipalay, Negros Occidental; Binalbagan, Negros Occidental; and Bayawan City, Negros Oriental.
People in Roxas City; Bais City; La Carlota City; Zamboanga City; Lapu-lapu City; Cebu City; La Castillana, Negros Occidental; Bacolod City; Dumaguete City; Jagna, Bohol; Oton, Iloilo; Tayasan, Negros Oriental; Jimalalud, Negros Oriental; Ayungon, Negros Oriental; Sibulan, Negros Oriental; and Dipolog City felt the quake at Intensity III.
Intensity II was felt in San Jose, Antique; Sibalom, Antique; and Pagadian City, while Intensity I was recorded in Masbate City; Kalibo, Aklan; Labason, Zamboanga del Norte; Polanco, Zamboanga del Norte; and Manukan, Zamboanga del Norte.
Phivolcs said aftershocks are expected, but no damage was reported after the tremor. (Sunnex)
