THE House of Representatives on Wednesday passed on second reading a bill to create a seventh congressional district in Cebu province.

Representative Wilfredo Caminero (Cebu, 2nd district) said House Bill 4427 aims to add another congressional district in the province by dividing the second congressional district, the province's largest legislative district, into two to form a new seventh district.

Caminero said the towns of Dumanjug, Ronda, Alcantara, Moalboal, Badian, Alegria, Malabuyoc and Ginatilan will be delegated to the seventh district while the towns of Argao, Dalaguet, Alcoy, Bolijoon, Oslob, Santander and Samboan will remain in the second district.

The House committee on local government approved the bill last week submitted the same to the plenary on Wednesday.

The Commission on Elections shall issue the necessary rules and regulations within 30-days upon the final approval of the act. (Sunnex)
