Doctors: Napoles should stay in hospital due to bleeding-A A +A
Wednesday, May 21, 2014
THE camp of detained businesswoman Janet Napoles said Wednesday that the alleged pork barrel scam mastermind is experiencing abnormal vaginal bleeding and needs further confinement at the Ospital ng Makati (OsMak).
Napoles' lawyers asked Wednesday the Makati Regional Trial Court to recall and reconsider its May 20 decision "due to a supervening event" of Napoles experiencing vaginal bleeding.
On Tuesday, Judge Elmo Alameda of Makati RTC branch 150 denied Napoles' motion for further hospital confinement due to medical reasons and ordered the Philippine National Police to move Napoles to her detention cell at the Fort Sto. Domingo in Laguna no later than May 23.
Doctors recommended continuation of hospital stay of Napoles as she was complaining of vaginal spotting and for her regular pelvic examination.
Napoles lawyers asked the court to allow her to stay at the OsMak as recommended by her attending physicians "until such time that the cause of her bleeding is determined and given proper medical attention and only after physicians recommend her anew for discharge."
Dr. Efren Domingo, chief physician of Napoles, said they advised the alleged pork barrel scam architect to have complete bed rest after confirming on May 19 that there was vaginal bleeding.
There is a big possibility that the cause of the bleeding was Napoles' uncontrolled diabetes, the Domingo said.
"Napapansin ko kasi na hindi na siya nakakatulog, stress at busy kakagawa ng kanyang paper works in relation sa pork barrel case kaya we advised her relatives to talk to her na pwede din makapag-cause sakanya ng emotional breakdown," he added.
Domingo said they have already submitted progress report, latest finding and recommendation to Napoles' legal counsel, which they have included in the motion they will file before the Makati court.
Napoles' camp cited in its motion the lack of medical facility at Fort Sto. Domingo, saying it is not a suitable environment for full recovery of Napoles. It also noted that follow up medical checkup of Napoles has not yet been fully completed.
Napoles underwent a successful operation at OsMak on April 23 to remove her uterus and two ovaries due to a cyst. (Sunnex)
